Current events in Sweden

Everybody is looking forward to the wedding on June 19th. Despite the wedding preparations there have been various other news about the Swedish Royal Family.

1 Genealogist Bjorn Engström reveals in his book coming out in June that Daniel Westling - with roots in Svartnäs and in many other places in Dalarna - has noble ancestry.

2 Daniel will have an own coat of arms after the wedding.

3 A friend of Jonas Bergström says, that he is completely cracked. He is looking for a new home and has taken a time out of his job.

This vanity fair article talks about Carl Philip's girlfriend Sofia Hellqvist, a model who posed topless with a snake.

Guest list for Victoria's and Daniel's wedding

Aftonbladet published today the Guest list for the wedding of Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling.

Madeleine off to USA

After calling off the engagement to Jonas Bergström, Princess Madeleine was seen at the airport on her way to New York where she's going to spend three weeks because of her work for the World Childhood Foundation.

Yesterday she was seen on her way to her home in Stockholm.

Madeleine and Jonas break off their engagement

Today Princess Madeleine and Jonas Bergström have ended their engagement. Madeleine is now in New York to work at the World Childhood Foundation.





The official press release of the Royal Court says:

"After careful consideration, Princess Madeleine and Jonas Bergström jointly decided to go separate ways. They have come to the conclusion that the best thing for them is that they move in different directions. Princess Madeleine and Jonas Bergström appeal to the media to show them respect and consideration for this decision. They need peace and quiet in this difficult situation. Extreme media coverage will not ease the situation for them. We ask for your understanding that no further statements will be provided."

Madeleine and Jonas at couple's therapist

Yesterday the couple was seen visiting a couple's therapist. The King is said to be furious that they haven't been able to solve their problems privateley and demanded to meet Jonas later this week. The King has made it clear to everyone in the family and the Court's communications department that no one would give any comments.

Ministerial lunch in Stockholm

Crown Princess Victoria, Princess Madeleine, the King and the Queen of Sweden had today a ministerial lunch with the Minister for Development Cooperation Gunilla Carlsson in Stockholm.
Madeleine's name was deleted this morning from the list of attendees of this lunch. Nevertheless she attended today.

There are still rumours about her and Jonas Bergström, who reportedly had a one-night-stand with a Norwegian woman, who didn't know he was engaged to Madeleine. The Court hasn't made an official statement yet.

Madeleine at sunday dinner

Every Sunday in the evening the Swedish Royal Family meet to have dinner together. The partners of the three children are also invited. Madeleine drove there yesterday without Jonas.

Accoring to this report Madeleine and Jonas drove in Jonas' Jeep talking, probably about their relationship and their future.

Madeleine and Jonas out and about - separated

Daniel Westling, Crown Princess Victoria's fiancé, and Jonas Bergström, Princess Madeleine's fiancé, were seen yesterday leaving the restaurant Teatergrillen in Stockholm after a dinner and conversation going on for several hours.

Madeleine was also in Stockholm. She had lunch at Café Crème with Louise Gottlieb and some other friends. She and Jonas haven't been seen together for a while. That's why there are still rumours about a breakup.
