Prince William and Kate Middleton are engaged!

It's official! Prince William and Kate Middleton are going to marry next year!

Announcement of the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton, 16 November 2010

The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton.

The wedding will take place in the Spring or Summer of 2011, in London. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.

Prince William and Miss Middleton became engaged in October during a private holiday in Kenya. Prince William has informed The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince William has also sought the permission of Miss Middleton’s father.

Following the marriage, the couple will live in north Wales, where Prince William will continue to serve with the Royal Air Force.

Prince William gave Kate the engagement ring of his mother, Princess Diana.

In the afternoon Kate's parents Michael and Carole Middleton posed for a photograph at their home in Berkshire, southern England. Britain's Prince William will marry long-term girlfriend Kate Middleton next year, ending feverish speculation about when the second-in-line to the throne would wed, the royal family announced Tuesday. William, the eldest son of heir to the throne Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, and Middleton, the daughter of a wealthy businessman, got engaged in October while on holiday in Kenya, said Clarence House, Charles' official residence.

Finally! It's been ages since the last royal wedding in 1981 and I'm glad it's finally happening for the young couple. Congratulations!
