Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist are engaged!

I wish I could just skip the news. We all have to be strong now...
The Swedish Royal Court announced today the engagement of Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist. A press conference was held this afternoon after the announcement. The wedding will be held next summer.

Official press release:

The Marshal of the Realm is delighted to announce the engagement between Prince Carl Philip and Miss Sofia Hellqvist.

After His Majesty The King of Sweden had given his consent to the marriage between Prince Carl Philip and Miss Sofia Hellqvist, His Majesty requested the approval by the Swedish Government, in accordance with the procedures set out in the Swedish Constitution.

The wedding date has not yet been decided but it is planned to take place during the summer of 2015.

Svante Lindqvist
Marshal of the Realm

The Court released official pictures right after the meeting with the press.

In the evening the engagement was celebrated with Carl Philip's and Sofias families.

If you're new to the Royal World or haven't followed the Swedish Royal Family so far, I recommend you this blogpost by lovelolaheart for a bit of catching up.

You don't like Sofia Hellqvist? I guess she will grow on us and will change once she's become a princess. I wasn't sure about her either but if Prince Carl Philip loves her, then I wish them all the best. I look forward to seeing her as a Princess of Sweden.
